Shortly, we shall be listing some of the water sector experts in your city. Please contact them if you would like to invite them to talk to the students and teachers.

Some pointers

The people mentioned in this list have kindly consented to share their wealth of knowledge with school communities. They would be able to do so only when they do not have other pressing engagements at work.

To ensure that both the school and the subject expert benefit from the experience, here are some pointers for the groundwork required -

1. Contact the guest lecturer well in advance and finalize programme details.
2. Discuss the preferred audience size.
3. A week before the talk check if any audio-visual equipment is required (computer, projector, microphones, display screen, flip chart stand, chart paper, markers etc.).
4. Get a brief bio-data of the lecturer at
   least a day before the talk, so that you have some time to work on the introduction. A short note on the topics that will be covered would also be useful to have in hand.
5. Request for a soft copy of the presentation (if any) a day in advance. This way you can check whether the presentation runs smoothly and there are no technical glitches.
6. Organize for transport for the lecturer – it will be greatly appreciated.

During the talk

1. Punctuality and a well-behaved audience may help in future requests being willingly met.
2. We all love interactive discussion. It would be encouraging, if students came up with interesting questions. Find out what’s preferred – questions to be asked as and when it comes to a student’s mind or questions only after the talk is over.
3. Sometimes a couple of starter questions from teachers can help get the students going.

There are so many schools, but only very few subject experts. So please do not feel disheartened if the person is unable to meet your request.
