Pratham Books recently launched a book 'Cauvery' and had a
range of contests for students.

Here are some of the actions undertaken by students:

Student volunteers are made to check for leaking /running taps or hose pipes after each break and report in the office daily. It takes them only 3-5 minutes and they enjoy doing the same. The volunteers are changed after a week.

The fields around the academy were at a higher level than the rest of the fields. Hence a lot of water was wasted during irrigation. We dragged the mud from those fields bringing them down to the level of the other fields. In this way a lot of water is saved during each irrigation period.

The electric motor used for water purposes in the Academy runs at fixed periods. The peons dealing with the water based work are held responsible if the tank goes empty before the fixed time. Hence the peons keep a keen eye on the usage of water by labourers at work in the Academy. First, an estimate (approx) of the water required during the working hours was made, and then the peons were informed.
